Stars 3, Blackhawks 1

I’m too lazy to come up with a pun.

All in all, it’s a good start to the last long road trip of the season. The Stars faced a young, hard-working, energetic team in the Blackhawks. The Blackhawks, incidentally, had just come home from a game in Montreal last night. This extends their winless streak to 7 (0-5-1).

Marty Turco started in net, and performed beautifully. Patrick Kane got a penalty shot about midway through the second period, and Turco (who has now faced 10 penalty shots in his career, and stopped 9 of them, only allowing his first against Mike Fisher back in 2001) stayed with him the whole time – Kane shot it wide of the net. Turco finished with 17 saves. Happy Goalie (TM Jenlo) was also really good, I have to admit, stopping 27 of 29 shots on goal.

I’m getting lazy and sleepy now, so just a few facts:
+ Mike Modano ended the game with 3 points, an assist on each goal
+ Goals were scored by Loui Eriksson, Stu Barnes, and Brenden Morrow
+ Russian, as usual, led the team in ice time, at 27:37. He also got his team-leading 31st assist on Barnes’s goal.

Check out Jen’s blog, The Shootout, for an awesome live-blog of the game, and check in tomorrow night for Stars vs. Blues.

  1. Did anyone else laugh when Kane fucked up the penalty shot? Thanks for beating Chicago.

  2. I laughed! I definitely did!
